Mark Warburton’s time in charge as Rangers boss at Ibrox has come to and end.

Former Rangers and England captain Terry Butcher has been commenting on the current turmoil at the club to Sky Sports News HQ (10/02/2017).

Rangers parted ways with manager Mark Warburton, assistant David Weir and head of recruitment Frank McParland yesterday. However, there was immediate confusion regarding whether the trio walked or had been pushed from the Ibrox plank.

The manner in which Rangers had handled the situation certainly did not impress Butcher.

He stated:

“There seems to be a lot of secrecy from both sides and until that comes out it doesn’t make a lot of sense…

“But it is messy and it was a shock to me, not that the board had a difficult relationship with Mark Warburton but the manner in which it was done.

“Rangers like to do things in a very precise and clear-cut way and this wasn’t.”

Rangers have however been clear in their replacement. Graeme Murty has taken over as the first-team coach for interim period, as Rangers look for a new manager to take the club forward.

It has been a tough return to the top-flight for the Glasgow club. The summer signing of Joey Barton ended up being a disastrous error and other recruits have also failed to impress. Butcher, along with most Rangers affiliates, will just hope the club can appoint the right person and fast to take the club back on an upward trajectory.
