Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has slammed Kylian Mbappe for ‘disrespecting’ PSG as one of the world’s most recognisable footballers adds another episode to his dramatic career.

From World Cup winner as a fresh-faced teenager to seemingly being given so much power at PSG that Carragher thinks he is more of a ‘director of football’ at the French club, rather than one of their top superstars.

When Mbappe signed a new big-money contract extension in Paris during the summer, whatever he was promised clearly hasn’t been met because he is now throwing his toys out of the pram, and come the January transfer window, he wants to head for the exit door, as reported by Julien Laurens.

It’s easier said than done because of the stupid amount of money that would be needed, both in transfer fees and wages to buy the player, but Liverpool are a club that have emerged as possible contenders to secure his talents.

Now, given that the Merseyside giants couldn’t even manage to extend both Sadio Mane and Mo Salah’s contracts, then it begs the question, how months after the Africa Cup of Nations winner departed for Bayern Munich, they will sign someone like Mbappe?

Football is a crazy world and nothing should be ruled out, but whatever happens to the 23-year-old in January, one thing is for sure, Carragher doesn’t like the way he is acting, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (11/10/22 at 7:20 pm).

“Do you blame the club for almost, it seems to me on the outside and in the summer, it felt like they didn’t make him Mbappe ‘the star of the team’,” said Carragher.

“It was almost like he was the director of football. It was almost like he was choosing the coach and talking about players coming in – has he actually been given too much power because they were terrified of losing him?

“Why is it coming out as well? You have got a Champions League game. We all love Mbappe as a player. He’s amazing. But there’s too much ego and power for a 23-year-old, who is one of the best players in the world, but it’s too much for a young player. I think someone needs to tell him ‘no’.

“He’s disrespecting the club – he’s fed it to the newspapers. He’s got people in the press. He has fed the story on the afternoon of a game. A Champions League game, it’s not right. If anyone is disrespecting anybody, then it’s Kylian Mbappe disrespecting PSG.”

TALENT WITH SERIOUS BAGGAGE

There is one thing having talent, and there is one thing having talent with arrogance, but it’s a different story when you have a stupid amount of baggage to go along with it.

Whilst every elite club in the world would love a player like Mbappe on their books, it begs the question whether you would want an individual like that in your dressing room.

Something is amiss here and this story breaking in the manner that it did should surely put off other teams from wanting him.

It does seem as though Mbappe has been too comfortable in his environment whereby he has been spoon-fed too much, and as PSG are witnessing, they aren’t exactly winning the Champions League with him in the team.
