Cesc Fabregas has taken to Twitter to share his thoughts on Stuart Attwell’s decision to award Manchester City a penalty against Arsenal earlier today.

What’s the story?

Well, things were going so well for the Gunners in their Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium, after Bukayo Saka opened the scoring.

However, things began to unravel in the 55th minute when Granit Xhaka was adjudged to have fouled Bernardo Silva.

Riyad Mahrez stepped up to equalise, although Fabregas felt Attwell shouldn’t have awarded Manchester City a penalty in the first place.

You can see the Spaniard’s tweet in full below – he believes Bernardo Silva was already falling before contact was made.

In our view, Fabregas is wrong.

Time and time again, Xhaka seems to do something brainless.

The Arsenal No.34 arguably fouls Bernardo Silva twice in one move, first tripping the Portugal international before also getting a handful of his shirt.

It completely ruined all of Arsenal’s hard work in the first half.

After his nightmarish display against the Citizens at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season, you would expect Xhaka to know better.

Sadly, the Switzerland international just seems to make mistake after mistake in an Arsenal shirt.

In fairness to the Gunners, they should’ve had a spot-kick of their own in the first half when Ederson upended Martin Ødegaard.

Nevertheless, you cannot allow poor officiating to get inside your head when out on the field, so Xhaka has no excuse for his moment of madness.
