Leeds United goalkeeper Robert Green is seemingly set for a move to Huddersfield Town.
Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner has told The Mirror that he hopes to have a deal for Leeds United’s Robert Green tied up imminently after agreeing personal terms.
The Terriers continued their fine start to the Premier League season with a 0-0 home draw with Southampton this afternoon, continuing their unbeaten opening to the campaign.
It’s now three clean sheets for Huddersfield, as new signings Jonas Lossl and Matthias Jorgensen have strengthened their back line – but manager Wagner is still seeking new signings before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Having lost loanee Danny Ward back to parent club Liverpool, Wagner is targeting another goalkeeper to offer cover and competition for Lossl, as Joel Coleman is considered too inexperienced right now.
Speculation in recent days has suggested that Leeds United’s Robert Green could make the short move to the John Smith’s Stadium, having struggled for first-team football this term.
Green, 37, was first-choice under Garry Monk last season, playing in all 46 league games following a summer move from Queens Park Rangers, but his role has changed under Monk’s replacement, Thomas Christiansen.
Green has been relegated to second choice behind summer signing Felix Wiedwald, and whilst he featured against Newport County in Leeds’ midweek Carabao Cup tie, he now looks set to leave Elland Road.
Huddersfield boss Wagner has told The Mirror that former England international Green is close to signing for the Terriers, having agreed personal terms with the goalkeeper – and a medical is imminent, meaning the deal should be announced in the next 24 hours.
“We would like to sign Rob Green,” said Wagner. “We have agreed personal terms and we have also spoken to Leeds. If he passes a medical, which he will hopefully do today, hopefully we can announce this signing in the next 24 hours,” he added.
