Rangers snapped up two strikers over the summer, landing Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten despite Alfredo Morelos staying at Ibrox.
The Gers decided that Steven Gerrard needed more attacking firepower, and raided Anderlecht and St Gallen respectively for Roofe and Itten.
Rangers were linked with other strikers though, and one of them was a relative unknown in Nigerian hitman Terem Moffi.
Moffi had impressed in Lithuania with Kauno Zalgiris and FK Riteriai before heading to Kortrijk in January 2020, scoring five times in 11 games.
That’s where Rangers come in, as Het Laatste Nieuws reported that the Gers wanted Moffi, but weren’t prepared to pay £4.5million for him.
Lorient ended up signing Moffi, and after just one goal in his first 10 games for the Ligue 1 side, he has now started making headlines.
Having hit a brace against Monaco on Sunday, Moffi now has seven goals in his last eight league games, which makes him the top Ligue 1 goalscorer in 2021.
Moffi appears to have found his feet in France and is now continuing to fine the net just as he did in Lithuania and Belgium, with Rangers possibly being made to rue not signing him.
