Speaking on the Qué Golazo Podcast, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano said a ten-word sentence that should fill Arsenal fans with excitement.
Romano said: “I tell you that I expect something special from Arsenal.”
When a man as reliable as the Italian says that he expects something special to happen, then Arsenal fans should probably start to get their hopes up – even though that can often be a dangerous thing to do!
So, which players have the Gunners been linked with who could potentially become ‘special’ business this winter?
Well, Mikel Arteta’s hunt for Lyon’s Houssem Aouar was well documented over the summer, with France Football stating that the Spaniard wanted to utilise the Frenchman in the Kevin De Bruyne role.

Elsewhere, The Athletic have linked Arsenal with a swoop for RB Salzburg wonderkid Dominik Szoboszlai, who has eight goals and nine assists in 16 appearances this season.
Both of these midfielders are excellent players, and would definitely fall into the category of ‘special’ business should Arsenal manage to sign them mid-season.
If there’s one thing the north Londoners need, it’s a bit of creativity.

As WhoScored shows, Arsenal have scored the fourth-fewest amount of goals in the Premier League this season with ten in ten games.
They also register the fourth-fewest shots per game – something is seriously wrong with Arteta’s side right now in terms of attacking output.
Let’s just hope whatever ‘special’ business they do in January can rectify this.
