Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after Fabrizio Romano posted a tweet involving some potential candidates to replace José Mourinho.
The Italian journalist revealed that Jesse Marsch is set to become the new RB Leipzig boss, after Julian Nagelsmann joined Bayern Munich.
Interestingly, both Nagelsmann and Marsch were linked with the Tottenham job.
It was Romano who said that Nagelsmann had turned Spurs down.
Elsewhere, the Daily Star said that Daniel Levy had contacted Marsch, who has been managing RB Salzburg over in Austria.
However, Romano’s latest tweet suggests he is close to joining Nagelsmann in moving to a club that isn’t Spurs.
Romano adds that Erik ten Hag – manager of Ajax – was also on RB Leipzig’s list.
So, now that Marsch is heading there, that leaves Ten Hag as a potential option to replace Mourinho.
Other names such as Brendan Rodgers, Gareth Southgate, Graham Potter and Roberto Martinez have been mentioned, although Ten Hag is arguably the most exciting.
He led Ajax to the Champions League semi-final in 2019, playing a scintillating brand of fast-paced, free-flowing football.
That Ajax side were on course to reach the final, only to be struck by an unfathomable Lucas Moura hat-trick in Amsterdam.
In our view, he would be an excellent appointment. However, there may be concerns over the strength of the Eredivisie.
Just look at Frank de Boer, who won nearly everything in the Netherlands, only to fail at Inter Milan and Crystal Palace.
Judging by the responses below, plenty of Tottenham fans seem to think the managerial merry-go-round will see the 51-year-old end up in north London.
