Leeds United have reportedly received a boost in their quest to sign Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams in the summer transfer window.

Earlier this month, The Independent reported that Leeds United are interested in signing Brandon Williams from Manchester United.

The report claimed that Leeds, who are playing in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League, are considering a move for the 22-year-old full-back this summer.

Leeds head coach Daniel Farke worked briefly with Williams at Norwich City during the full-back’s loan spell at Carrow Road in the 2021-22 season.

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has now said that the 22-year-old is free to leave, along with midfielder Donny van de Beek.

Ten Hag said, as quoted in The Manchester Evening News: “Yesterday, the final training, ‘H’ fell out with a small issue and after September 1 everything can change, but we need players who are totally with their heads in our team.

“And, I wouldn’t say the players you just mentioned, they are not, but it’s also obvious in this moment they are looking for something else.

“But when they are here, they always do their best and they do every training, Brandon, Donny, I am pleased with their performance and also pleased with their performance in pre-season, Brandon, Donny, and some more did a very good pre-season.”

Ten Hag saying that Williams is free to leave will come as a boost to Leeds.

Of course, the West Yorkshire club will have to strike a deal with the Red Devils as well as convince the English youngster to make the move to Elland Road.

But, at least Leeds now know that the defender is available in the transfer market.

Leeds may be playing in the Championship this season, but they are a big club who have a very strong and loyal fanbase.

A move to Leeds could be appealing to Williams.

The full-back could get to play regularly for Leeds and grow as a player at Elland Road.
