Transfer deadline day always throws up some big-money moves and surprising signings, and 2016 certainly didn’t disappoint.

As Premier League clubs splurged over £1billion in this summer’s transfer window, deadline day didn’t disappoint and threw up its usual dose of drama, excitement and transfers galore.

Moussa Sissoko finally left Newcastle for Tottenham in a £30 million deal, Joe Hart left Manchester City for Torino on loan, Leicester broke their transfer record again to sign Islam Slimani and arguably the most unbelievable transfer of them all, David Luiz rejoined Chelsea from Paris Saint-Germain.

Deadline day – got to love it haven’t you?

But in a sea of clubs frantically finalising their squads before the 11pm deadline, it’s very easy for certain transfers to go under the radar that a few days later you think: “Wait, that actually happened?”

Well not to worry as here are 10 deals you may have missed on August 31st as you start to recover from the fact Jack Wilshere joined Bournemouth on loan.

1. Lee Grant – Derby to Stoke

Stoke were one of the busiest clubs on deadline day bringing in Wilfried Bony and Bruno Martins Indi on loan but the best of the lot was surely Lee Grant’s sensational move to the Bet 365 Stadium, no?

The Derby shot-stopper signed a short-term loan deal as back-up to Shay Given and Jack Butland who’s out with injury, so don’t expect the 33-year-old to make too much of an impact.

2. Allan Nyom – Watford to West Brom

One of a whopping 18 players signed by Watford in their first season back in the top flight, Allan Nyom upped sticks after just one season to West Bromwich Albion for around £3m on deadline day, with Tony Pulis keen on a right-back at the Hawthorns.

The 28-year-old takes the place of Christian Gamboa who left for Celtic earlier this week.

3. Adama Traore – Aston Villa to Middlesbrough

Touted as yet another wonderkid straight from the Barcelona production line, Adama Traore will get a second bite of the Premier League cherry with Middlesbrough having disappointed at Aston Villa.

The Spaniard only made nine league appearances at Villa Park in an injury-ravaged season, but will get another chance to shine in the top flight after agreeing a four-year deal on Teeside.

4. Ivan Cavaleiro – Monaco to Wolves

Dipping into the Championship and with new owners at the helm of Wolves they’ve not been afraid to put their money where their mouth is.

Ivan Cavaleiro joins for around £7m from Monaco which is a pretty big deal considering he’s a Portuguese international and cost Monaco around £15m last summer from Benfica.

The 22-year-old will hope to find his feet in the Championship and fire Wolves to the Premier League.

5. Jason Denayer – Manchester City to Sunderland

Jason Denayer has made more appearances for his national side than he has for Manchester City, but the Belgian defender will spend this season on loan at Sunderland.

The 21-year-old is still highly-rated at the Etihad and the opportunity to link up at the Stadium of Light to replace Younes Kaboul will give Denayer a regular taste of Premier League football.

6. Gokhan Inler – Leicester to Besiktas

Gokhan Inler’s arrival at Leicester from Napoli was hailed as a coup for The Foxes, but as Claudio Ranieri’s side stormed to the Premier League title, Inler played next to no part in their heroics.

The Swiss international lost his place in his country’s Euro 2016 side and heads to Besiktas to get his career back on track.

7. James Weir – Man United to Hull

One of a number of youngsters to leave Old Trafford since Jose Mourinho took over, James Weir becomes Hull’s fourth major signing of the summer delighting The Tigers who are relieved to have more than 13 senior faces in their squad.

Weir made just one league appearance for Manchester United last season as the midfielder now looks to forge a career for himself at the KCOM Stadium on a three-year deal.

8. Philippe Senderos – Free agent to Rangers

Former Arsenal and Aston Villa defender Philippe Senderos finds himself back in Britain, this time shacking up at Ibrox Stadium and at Rangers.

Mark Warburton has clearly seen something in the Swiss central defender to suggest he can help The Gers solidify their Scottish Premiership status and the 31-year-old has signed a deal until the end of the season.

9. Luis Alberto – Liverpool to Lazio

It hasn’t quite worked out for Luis Alberto at Anfield and the Liverpool midfielder departs for Lazio with just 12 appearances to his name.

The 23-year-old leaves for £6m and two seasons away on loan at Malaga and Deportivo La Coruna.
