Heading into the final few months of the season, it seems as though Gareth Bale’s engine at Tottenham has finally started.
Tim Sherwood told Soccer Special on Sky Sports (24/02/21) that Jose Mourinho has dropped a major hint that he will start the Welshman against Burnley on Sunday.
Bale, who has been a regular starter in Europe before last night, started on the bench for Spurs’ 4-0 second-leg win against Wolfsberger.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son were also rested, and given they are regulars in the Premier League, Sherwood thinks he’ll be joining them from the get-go at the weekend.
“It’s good to see Dele have a lot of minutes on the pitch,” said Sherwood.
“Gareth Bale came off the bench, so that tells me he’ll be playing against Burnley because why would you not start him? Someone who lacks match practise.
“He’s obviously resting him up. And he feels like he’s ready to start the Premier League game against Burnley, at the weekend.”

Bale on the starting grid for Burnley will no doubt excite the Tottenham faithful.
Slowly but surely, he is showing that his Ferrari-like engine is showcasing its true worth and not acting like a Toyota.
If that’s the case then it couldn’t be better timing for the Welshman because now this is the business end of the campaign.
