Tottenham Hotspur have more priority targets than Robbie Keane has boyhood clubs.
In June, Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde was Fabio Paratici’s number one target during Spurs’ summer transfer window.
But now it has been reported the Italian – who joined the Lilywhites from Juventus this summer – has made a certain Marcus Thuram his priority.
According to Foot Mercato in France, Tottenham are keen on the Borussia Monchengladbach attacker – as a ‘priority’ addition.
There’s no doubt that the North Londoners need attacking players this summer, even if Harry Kane doesn’t wind up leaving the club.
And it seems like some fans of the Premier League side are keen on seeing Thuram – who scored 11 goals and set up 12 in all competitions last season – arrive this summer.
Kane is different level
This is worrying for Tottenham because Foot Mercato suggests that Thuram could be a target in the event that Kane leaves.
Problem is, Kane is a thousand times better in front of goal and, well, a traditional number nine.
Thuram is a fine talent, but his 11 goals last season came from 40 appearances in all competitions.
The Italy-born attacker can also play out wide, as well as through the middle, but Kane is just next level in terms of goalscoring and if Paratici wants him as the Englishman’s replacement, it’s bonkers.
