Liverpool have been linked with a host of players in recent months, and Aster Vranckx is one name that hasn’t garnered many headlines.
Fans want to see Thiago arrive from Bayern Munich, meaning fellow midfielder Vranckx hasn’t been given given much attention.
Back in May, The Mirror reported that Liverpool want to sign Mechelen talent Vranckx, but faced competition from Manchester City.
The 17-year-old starred last season, bagging one goal and two assists in just nine top-flight games for Mechelen.
Primarily a box-to-box player, the Belgian teenager could be seen as a potential long-term successor to Georginio Wijnaldum, who is being linked away from Anfield.
Vranckx looks to be a top talent for the future, but he didn’t exactly cover himself in glory as Mechelen took on Oostende at home.

Mechelen lost 1-0 without having a shot on target, which is quite the miracle given the chance that Vranckx contrived to miss.
The teenager was presented with a golden chance to score from the goalline after a teammate hit the crossbar, but with the goal at his mercy, he could only trip over the ball and see the chance go begging – and it was made worse when Oostende bagged a 95th minute winner.
This is only one chance to score that has been missed, but Vranckx’s miss has gone viral in the last 24 hours, meaning he will need to show some resolve to come back stronger – and possibly earn his Premier League move.
