According to The Sunderland Echo, Niall Brookwell is leaving Liverpool and joining Newcastle United despite having interest from Sunderland.

Sunderland wanted to sign the 18-year-old midfielder, but the teenager has decided to join Newcastle instead, according to the report.

It has been reported that the teenager – who can also play in defence – has signed a two-year contract at the Premier League club and will go into their Under-23 set-up for now.

The Chronicle has reported that the youngster is going to complete his move to Newcastle today, adding that that Brookwell has turned down Burnley and Crystal Palace to switch to the Magpies.

One for the future

Brookwell is a very talented and promising young player who will develop and become better in the coming years.

Newcastle have a very good academy, and if the teenager works hard, then he will progress as a footballer.

If Brookwell does well for the youth team, then he will get his chances in the senior side at Newcastle, but for now, he needs to wok hard and focus on his footballing education.
