Teddy Sheringham is delighted by the exciting partnership between Harry and Dele Alli for Tottenham.
The former Spurs striker has said that sometimes “you just click with someone”, citing his own partnership with Darren Anderton during his playing days at White Hart Lane.
The former England striker hopes that the duo, who shares a telepathic understanding between them on the pitch, stays together at the north London club for a long time.
Sheringham believes that the success behind Alli and Kane’s strong partnership is because they understand each others game so well.
Being a great striker himself, Sheringham believes that when a player develops such a strong understand with someone, they do not always need to communicate by words – a mere eye contact or putting a hand is enough to let know where he wants the ball to be passed.

“I just think every now and again you get a relationship with a particular player,” said Sheringham to the club’s official website. “It doesn’t come around very often in your career but sometimes you just click with someone, like I had the understanding with Darren Anderton.
“You enjoy playing, you know what people want to do, what they’ll try to do and I think that’s what Harry and Dele have got. They just look like they understand each other and know instinctively where they’d like the ball to be passed to.
“You can talk to each other on a football pitch. Obviously you can’t always, but it’s not always about word of mouth, it might just be eye contact or maybe even putting a hand up to say that you want it right or left.
“Sometimes you know when someone’s going to get their head up and look at you to be able to give them that signal. Darren used to do it from corners and I’d just give him a little signal. You just get an understanding that is uncanny and long may it continue for Tottenham. It’s just a lovely combination to watch.”
Maurico Pochettino has used Alli in the free role behind the striker, a move that has paid dividends. The 21-year-old has scored 18 goals, and provided seven assists in the Premier League last season.
Kane, 23, has equally enjoyed a phenomenal campaign, scoring 29 Premier League goals for Spurs, despite missing eight Premier League games through injury.
