Michael Owen claimed that Raphinha displayed a ‘perfect’ technique during Leeds United’s 3-1 win over Burnley on Sunday, as he told Premier League Productions (02/01/22 at 2:55 pm).

The former striker was making reference to the Leeds winger trying to chip Wayne Hennessey from near the halfway line in the first half.

Raphinha saw his effort just graze the top of the crossbar and proved why he has such magic in his boots.

The Brazil international may not have got on the scoresheet yesterday, although he did miss an open goal during a crucial three points for Leeds.

But he produced yet another outstanding display and is fast improving to be the club’s most important player.

Owen lauded Leeds top-scorer this season and how he is someone who can ‘play for any team’.

“I mean, it’s a player I absoutley love,” said Owen. “He’s got that about him. He has got that skill. He has got that vision.

“The technique is perfect. Just again, it skims the top of the crossbar. But he is a player that can play in any team, for me.”

The January transfer window is open and there might just be some Leeds fans who will be worried about Raphinha’s future.

Marcelo Bielsa can’t afford to lose one of his star players this month, especially given their current situation.

Raphinha is putting in performances that are putting him in the transfer window and Leeds have to do everything in their power to bat away any offers, if it’s put on their table.

Their sole focus will be on bringing in fresh faces and trying to stay in the Premier League because they require squad depth more than anything.
