Manchester City stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League table with a win over Wolves on Saturday, and some fans on social media loved Joao Cancelo’s performance.
The Etihad Stadium natives entered the day one-point clear of Liverpool after a run of five-straight wins. The Reds will look to respond when they host Aston Villa later on Saturday.
Raheem Sterling converted a penalty to put the Citizens ahead on 66-minutes with his 100th Premier League goal. VAR Andre Marriner advised Jonathan Moss to point to the spot following a lengthy review, after Bernardo Silva’s cross hit Joao Moutinho’s arm.

The ball had deflected off Moutinho’s side before striking his arm. But Marriner and Moss gave the penalty, which Sterling slotted down the middle having let Jose Sa dive first.
Manchester City seized control of proceedings following Sterling’s deadlock breaking goal and enjoyed a flurry of chances. Wolves tried to respond but, despite a decent spell, could not find an equaliser to end the Citizens’ winning streak.
Manchester City fans praise Cancelo performance vs Wolves
Pep Guardiola handed Cancelo his 16th start of the Premier League season so far during Manchester City’s win over Wolves. He has opened each of their fixtures to date, but has mostly featured from left-back yet featured on the right-hand side of the Citizens defence.
Cancelo advanced up the flank throughout the match and helped toward an early chance to score in only the second-minute. The £60m full-back curled a nice pass to Sterling, but the winger could only direct his strike at Sa.
Cancelo tried his luck a few times through the first-half, too, with a 30-yard strike sailing over the bar. He also found Silva nicely, yet the midfielder’s shot flew just past the post.

Some Manchester City fans adored Cancelo’s advancing role against Wolves as the full-back created chance after chance. But he could not find a fourth league assist of the term.
