Tottenham eased past West Ham in the League Cup after a 2-1 win, with Steven Bergwijn starring for Antonio Conte’s side on the night.
The Netherlands international has been one of the forgotten men at Spurs since the arrival of the Italian manager, with rumours suggesting that Bergwijn could be returning to his home country with Ajax.
The forward has hardly featured for Tottenham, however, Bergwijn was in stunning form last night, with the winger bagging a goal and an assist against West Ham in what was a massive result for the north London side.
The win puts Spurs in the semi-finals of the League Cup for the second year in a row. And under Conte, Tottenham have a strong chance to claim silverware for the first time since 2008.
Indeed, Bergwijn’s display was crucial to Spurs beating West Ham in the League Cup, and his performance was a stark reminder how good the forward can be on his day.
As reported by BBC Sport, Bergwijn was signed by Spurs from PSV for £27m. And although the attacker arrived with a big reputation from the Netherlands, form and consistency has been hard to come by for the 24-year-old.
It has been some time since Bergwijn has had a big performance for Spurs, and supporters were buzzing to see how the attacker played against West Ham last night.
