It looks like Arsenal are going to have Dani Ceballos available for selection today.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of Leicester City’s trip to North London, Mikel Arteta suggested that the Spanish midfielder and Willian could sit this one out due to injury.
And although that remains true of Willian, Arsenal announced on their official Twitter page on Saturday that the Real Madrid loanee was available to be selected against the Foxes.
Here’s how some Gunners fans reacted to the development on social media:
This is particularly exciting because it could potentially be the first game that Ceballos partners Thomas Partey in midfield from the start.
Partey had a brilliant full debut in the 2-1 win away to Rapid Vienna in the Europa League this week, but Ceballos was absent on that occasion.
And although the pair played alongside one another in the defeat by Manchester City last weekend, it was only for seven minutes.
This time, they could start together for Arsenal for the first time and it’ll be fascinating to see a combination of Ceballos, Partey and Granit Xhaka in there.
