Bukayo Saka has broken his silence on Twitter after returning to Arsenal on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old winger missed the decisive penalty for England during the Euro 2020 final defeat by Italy in July.
Saka, who came through Arsenal’s academy, was the victim of online abuse in the direct aftermath of that night at Wembley.
And although he released a statement on social media after that, he has not been active on any of his social media platforms since July 15.
But the youngster returned for pre-season training at Arsenal yesterday and he marked the occasion by revealing on Twitter that he was ‘happy to be back home’.
Here’s how some Gunners fans responded to their star:
In a touching gesture, Arsenal seranaded him with physical copies of written letters that they received from supporters over the past three weeks.
It was a lovely thought and hopefully the player can put a difficult summer behind him and remind the Premier League why he’s such a massive talent.
Remember, Saka, despite being 19, was Arsenal’s Player of the Year last season and no doubt he’ll be one of the most important members of Mikel Arteta’s squad once again.
The North Londoners kick off their Premier League campaign away to Brentford in eight days.
