Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has reportedly been handed an opportunity to return to the club just a few days after announcing his retirement from football.

According to Argentine outlet Ole, the Manchester giants have offered the 33-year-old the chance to become a global club ambassador, Aguero spent ten years with City, guiding the club to five Premier League titles.

As per the report, TV opportunities have also been put on the table for Aguero. However, an ambassador role for City could be an appealing role for the South American attacker.

The striker is a legend at the Etihad, with Aguero the club’s all-time goalscorer as well as the highest-scoring foreign player in Premier League history. Moreover, the attacker’s famous last-second goal against QPR is regarded as one of the definitive moments in English football.

Indeed, Aguero will likely take his time to focus on his health before making a post-football decision. The forward was forced to retire after suffering a cardiac issue shortly after beginning his career with FC Barcelona.

The news was one of the most surprising and upsetting news stories in football this year, with Aguero one of the defining players of this current generation and an icon for City as well as the Premier League in the 2010s.

However, City fans on social media are buzzing that the club have reportedly offered Aguero a chance to return to Manchester in a non-playing role.
