Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier has praised his teammate Erik Lamela, as quoted in Football.London.

Dier, who can play as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder, was impressed by the performance of Lamela during the 2-1 win against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

The England international has praised the effort and work-rate of the 28-year-old Argentina international, who can play as a winger or as an attacking midfielder.

Dier told Football.London: “I think we have a lot of depth. We also have Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura and Lamela who I thought was fantastic today again, the effort he puts in is incredible. We’ve got a lot of options up front to do different things.”

Important player for Tottenham Hotspur

Lamela has had injury problems during his time at Tottenham, and when fit and available, the Argentine has not always been great.

However, the former AS Roma star works hard for the team and always tries to make things happen.

The Argentina international’s pace and skills could prove important for Tottenham this season, as they aim to finish in the Premier League top four and also make an impact in the Europa League.

Against Brighton, Lamela took two shots and both were on target, had a pass accuracy of 68.2%, won two headers, took 32 touches, attempted one dribble, made one tackle, and put in one cross, according to WhoScored.
