Dallas, who can operate as a winger, wing-back or central midfielder, has said that Poveda can be a top player.
The 29-year-old Northern Ireland international has added that the 20-year-old – who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder – needs encouraging words from time to time to boost his confidence.
Leeds Live quotes Dallas as saying about Poveda: “He’s a good lad, first and foremost. He works hard in training. It’s the manager’s decision what he does with him. He’s one where you just need to put an arm around him at times and give him a bit of encouragement.
“He knows he’s good enough, he knows he’s got talent, but he just needs to work on extra things and obviously the way we play, you’ve got to work hard. He’s got that and sometimes you just need to tell him and make him believe he’s got that.
“He can be a top player, he can be a very good asset to us and he feels as if he’s got a point to prove and coming on in games now, or whether he starts, you’ll start to see his best.”
One for the future
Poveda joined Leeds from Premier League club Manchester City in the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old made his competitive debut for the Whites last weekend against Cardiff City away from home at the Cardiff City Stadium in the Championship.
The England Under-20 international is only just starting his career, and having yet to taste competitive football on a regular basis, one should not expect him to make a massive impact at Leeds in the final games of the season.
Perhaps during the 2020-21 campaign, the youngster will come into his own under head coach Marcelo Bielsa.
