Celtic midfielder Scott Brown has said that it is going to be hard to replace reported Arsenal and Newcastle United target Odsonne Edouard, as quoted in The Daily Record.

According to The Scottish Mail (print edition, page 131, May 17, 2020), Arsenal and Newcastle are interested in signing Edouard from Celtic in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that the Magpies are planning to make a £25 million bid for the 22-year-old striker this summer.

Brown has raved about the Frenchman and believes that he has been “phenomenal” for Celtic this season.

The 34-year-old Scottish midfielder has added that it will be hard for Celtic to find a replacement for Edouard should the youngster leave.

The Daily Record has quoted Brown as saying: “Odsonne has been phenomenal, as have Jamesie and Callum. He still has a contract here and he loves being at Celtic.

“Odsonne had the opportunity to go home, but he’s stayed in Glasgow and it shows he wants to be here.

“That is great for us as we want him at the club as long as possible, as he is a special talent. It will always be hard to replace a player like that.”

Celtic stay

Edouard scored 22 goals in the Scottish Premiership and three goals in the Europa League for Celtic this season, according to WhoScored.

The Frenchman is the main goalscorer for Neil Lennon’s side, and the Glasgow giants have to keep him next season in order to enhance their chances of winning the league title for the 10th season in a row.
