The attacking midfielder has returned to training after sitting out Villa’s last six games, but is reportedly still unhappy at former boss Remi Garde.
Jack Grealish is reportedly holding former Aston Villa boss Remi Garde responsible for his recent injury woes, with Mirror Sport suggesting the midfielder felt he had been rushed back from a recent ankle problem.
After impressing towards the end of last season, Grealish’s career has stalled at Villa Park.
The youngster was dropped to the club’s Under-21 side with Garde, who replaced Tim Sherwood in the hotseat, reportedly unhappy at Grealish’s decision to go clubbing shortly after the 4-0 defeat to Everton, which was the Frenchman’s second game in charge.
Reports suggest the 20-year-old was keen to play a prominent role in Villa’s battle against relegation, but was left disappointed by the way Garde handled an ankle injury that was picked up in training on February 8.
Grealish was initially expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks, but was allegedly told by Garde to return to training after the 6-0 defeat to Liverpool at Villa Park six days later.
The player is thought to be convinced that such an early return further aggravated the injury, which eventually ruled Grealish out for the last six games – all of which Villa lost – and only saw him return to training last week.
Grealish is expected to be in contention for a return in Aston Villa’s home game with Chelsea at the weekend, which will see Eric Black take caretaker charge of the team, who remain 12 points adrift of safety at the bottom of the table.
