With England and Spain both out of Euro 2016, Guardiola may well press ahead with his summer transfer plans at Manchester City.
The Manchester Evening News claims Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is to step up his chase for Everton defender John Stones, following England’s hugely disappointing Euro 2016 exit at the hands of Iceland on Monday.
Stones returns from France having not played a single minute for the Three Lions, who were dumped out in Nice after Wayne Rooney’s penalty was cancelled out by goals from Ragnar Sigurdsson and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson.

But despite not getting any game time for his country this summer, Stones is still expected to leave Everton, and with England now eliminated from Euro 2016 Guardiola is set to step up City’s negotiations.

With former world champions Spain also crashing out of proceedings in France, Guardiola’s advances for Celta Vigo’s Nolito, who is understood to have chosen a move to the Etihad Stadium over a return to former club Barcelona, could also move on.

City, who completed a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan earlier in the summer, have also been linked to highly-rated German international Leroy Sane, who reportedly has a price tag of around £40 million.
But with Germany through to the quarter-finals in France, Guardiola may have to play the waiting game again.
