The Finland international was unhappy with his performance in the pre-season win over Port Vale on Tuesday.
Lam has pledged to improve for Nottingham Forest
New Nottingham Forest signing Thomas Lam says he has more offer the club, after admitting to the Nottingham Post that he was disappointed by his performance during the pre-season win over Port Vale on Tuesday.
Lam played played 45 minutes of the contest at Vale Park, which saw Forest clinch a 2-0 victory courtesy of goals from Matt Mills and Britt Assombalonga.
Lam arrived at the City Ground earlier this summer
But despite being part of a reasonably solid and positive team performance, the defender insists he was unhappy with his own personal display, admitting he still needs to get used to the English style of football.
Lam, who arrived at the City Ground from PEC Zwolle earlier in the month, told the Nottingham Post after the game: “My own game was not quite there. I expect more,” said Lam. “But it is pre-season and you have to grow in pre-season.
Nottingham Forest are looking to improve on last season’s finish
“It is about fitness and getting sharper.
“I don’t want to make this excuse but, for me, it was a little bit difficult to come in for the game.
“Tonight was not the best night for me but we go on to the next one and I hope to show what I can do.”
Forest fans will be hoping that Lam proves to be a wise acquisition
The Finland international’s comments are likely to welcomed by Forest fans, who will be desperate for their side to make more of an impression on the Championship this season after a disappointing 15th-place finish last term.
Meanwhile, a far more immediate concern will be an injury to Chris Cohen, who limped off the pitch in the dying minutes, having only been on for five minutes.
