Marshall signed on at Hull on Tuesday
New Hull City signing David Marshall has released a statement paying tribute to fans of former club Cardiff City, posting a farewell message on the club’s official website.
The Scottish goalkeeper signed a three-year deal with the Tigers on Tuesday, bringing an end to seven years of service to the Bluebirds.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Marshall cited the chance to return to the Premier League as a key reason for his decision to move to Humberside, but he insists he has left the Cardiff City Stadium with a heavy heart.
He said: “I’ve had seven fantastic years as a Cardiff City player on and off the pitch and I feel extremely lucky and proud to have been involved in some of the best times in the club’s history.

“I’d like to thank all the players and staff that I’ve worked with at Cardiff City during my time there and wish them success in the future.
“This summer, I had the opportunity to join another great club in Hull City and can’t wait to get started there. I’d like to thank Cardiff City for allowing me to take that opportunity.

“Lastly, but most importantly, myself and my family would like to thank all the Cardiff fans who have helped us enjoy the last seven years so much. Your support has been incredible and I hope the club enjoys the success you deserve going forward.”
Marshall arrived as caretaker boss Mike Phelan’s first signing of the summer and, with a long-term injury to Allan McGregor, is set to go head-to-head with Eldin Jakupovic for the number one jersey.
He joins fellow Scotland internationals Andy Robertson, Robert Snodgrass and Shaun Maloney at the club, who saw their 100 per cent start come to an end with a 1-0 defeat at home to Manchester United over the weekend.
