The 21-year-old Leeds man has come on leaps and bounds this year and edges out the Sheffield Wednesday star.
For a man who was nowhere near Leeds United’s first choice at the start of the season, it is a sign of real progress that he is having a better season than a rival going into a Championship clash.
That’s exactly the case, however, for Charlie Taylor ahead of Leeds’ game against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.
Indeed, the 21-year-old – who can play left-back or left-wing – is a cut above Wednesday’s Jeremy Helan statistically for the season, despite enjoying far less game time.

As Opta stats show, Taylor is more effective in all departments going forward. His time down the wing has seen him create chances galore and take more touches of the ball than his Sheffield Wednesday counterpart. It has also seen him score his first ever Leeds goal – and his solitary assist is more than Helan has managed this campaign.

Helan has received a mixed reception from Sheffield Wednesday fans this season but one area he does trump Taylor in is in terms of his average tackles per game.
In defence, however, it is the 21-year-old Leeds star that wins again elsewhere. Clearances, interceptions and headers all favour Taylor.
