Taylor Swift’s appearance at Knicks-Spurs Game 4 turned into a broadcast talking point after Monica McNutt questioned her Knicks loyalty and then walked it back.

Swift was at Madison Square Garden for one of the wildest NBA Finals games in recent memory, sitting among a celebrity-heavy crowd as the Knicks completed a historic comeback.

The problem for McNutt came after fans quickly pushed back on the idea that Swift had no Knicks connection.

Taylor Swift Knicks comment leads to Monica McNutt apology

As TMZ reported, Knicks radio host Monica McNutt apologized to Taylor Swift after making an NBA Finals comment about the singer’s appearance at the game.

McNutt had questioned Swift’s Knicks fandom, with the line “get out of here, girl” becoming the phrase that spread after the broadcast moment.

Addressing the backlash, McNutt began by acknowledging the fan response: “Swifties, I appreciate your passion. I said what I said. And here’s the deal, if I’m wrong — I am wrong, apparently — because she’s got an OG Amar’e Stoudemire jersey. … I misspoke. I did not know, but here’s the deal.”

She then explained the context behind her mistake: “Context: I literally just did a piece on celebrity row. I’ve been with the organization for five years. I know these folks. Ben Stiller. His wife, Christine (Taylor). Spike Lee. All of them. Fat Joe.”

McNutt said she had not seen Swift at recent Knicks games, adding: “I had not seen her here this year or last year, and we just saw her in Cleveland with her fiancee (Travis Kelce). Obviously, Travis supports the Cavs.”

She finished by accepting the correction: “She didn’t have any Knicks paraphernalia, so I did not know of her Knicks loyalty. But shoutout, T-Swift. We can be united in orange and blue, like, it’s fine.”

Knicks comeback made Taylor Swift moment even bigger

The timing made the clip louder because Game 4 was not a quiet celebrity-row night.

The Knicks came back from 29 points down to beat the San Antonio Spurs 107-106, with OG Anunoby tipping in the winner with 1.2 seconds left.

New York took a 3-1 NBA Finals lead and moved one win from its first title since 1973.

Swift attended alongside a packed celebrity scene that also included Ben Stiller, Timothée Chalamet, A$AP Rocky, Spike Lee, and Jerry Seinfeld.

McNutt’s apology worked because it did not overcomplicate the mistake. She said she did not know, Swifties supplied the evidence, and Swift ended the night attached to one of the biggest Knicks wins in decades.
