Tata Martino has admitted that he wants to repeat his success with Atlanta United with Inter Miami, with the Argentine coach an MLS Cup winner.
Speaking to the Coaches’ Voice, the former FC Barcelona and Mexico coach revealed that he wants to build something special at Inter Miami having been appointed as manager of the franchise this summer.
With Inter Miami signing Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, Martino could have a realistic shot at taking the Herons to silverware both this season and in 2024, with MLS Cup an obtainable goal for next year.
With Inter Miami through to the next round of the Leagues Cup and the semi-finals of the US Open Cup, there’s a real chance that Martino and Messi could lead the Florida franchise to silverware this season.
And according to the former Atlanta manager, he wants to make history at Inter Miami having already made a massive impact in MLS already with the Five Stripes.
Martino said: “Like I did in Atlanta, I want to build Inter Miami into a team that can be champions. I want to be part of the history of this club. I’m sure Leo will help us do that.”

Many MLS fans would agree that Atlanta’s MLS Cup-winning side of 2018 is one of the best sides the division has seen in recent memory, yet Martino can now build something even better at Inter Miami.
With Messi already firing and other players taking their game to another level, Martino has all the makings of a historic squad if he can get the system and the squad chemistry spot on.
Whilst an MLS championship is unlikely this year, Martino has all the tools needed to go one step further with Inter Miami than what the Argentine did in Georgia with Atlanta, a prospect that is quite the exciting one.
