The Burnley defender has produced some excellent performances this season.
Burnley defender James Tarkowski has expressed his delight with the improvements he has made to his game since joining the club.
The centre-back signed for Burnley from Brentford in 2016 and has produced some outstanding performances for Sean Dyche’s side at the heart of the defence this season.
As reported by The Burnley Express, Tarkowski said: “I’ve improved, definitely. I think you see a few things written about me now being an ‘old school English defender’.
“Before I came here I don’t think anybody would’ve written those words about me. It’s a side of the game that this club has brought out of me and I’m really enjoying it.”
Burnley have received many plaudits for their results and performances, with the club in eighth place in the Premier League, and Tarkowski has been a major factor behind many of those displays.
Matters have taken a turn for the worse for Burnley of late – they have lost their last three Premier League games in succession – and the Clarets will be determined to return to winning ways as quickly as possible.
They have an opportunity to do just that when they face Newcastle United away on Wednesday, with a difficult home game against Manchester City to follow at the weekend.
Earlier this month Tarkowski signed a new long-term contract with Burnley that is set to run until the summer of 2022, as reported by The Sun.
Retaining the services of Tarkowski was an excellent move for Burnley and he will hope to continue to perform consistently for many years to come.
