Should Leeds United give Taras Romanczuk a wide berth?

The Daily Mail reckon that Leeds United have tried and failed to sign Taras Romanczuk.

The English publication claims that the Whites have had a £1.2 million bid knocked back for the Jagiellonia Białystok midfielder.

But could it be a blessing in disguise?

He has helped Jagiellonia finish second in each of the previous two seasons in Poland’s top flight, but if he was the real deal and good enough for Leeds would he still be there?

Romanczuk, who has been capped once by Poland, turns 27 in November and yet he has spent his entire career in Polish football.

He might be something of a late bloomer, perhaps evident that his solitary cap came as recently as March, but he was omitted from his country’s World Cup squad.

Romanczuk is either one of Poland’s best kept secrets or he might not actually be that good and therefore Leeds should think long and hard about a second bid.

Their reported offer of £1.2 million is hardly chunk change, even though it’s not a colossal amount either, but the pressure is on Marcelo Bielsa to win promotion for Leeds this season and that’s a lot harder if Director of Football Victor Orta gives him gambles rather than established players.

And Romanczuk, based on his modest career to date, would be one.
