Tottenham Hotspur fans were excited when the club snapped up Tanguy Ndombele in the summer of 2019, but it has taken a while for him to get going.
Spurs were seeking a big-money midfield addition, and ended up landing Ndombele from Lyon in a club-record deal, beating a number of huge clubs to his signature.
The Frenchman seems to be Moussa Dembele’s long-term heir at Spurs in the sense of him being a ball-carrying midfielder with outstanding technical ability, but Ndombele’s future looked unclear not long ago.
Mauricio Pochettino signed Ndombele, but he left the club just months later, and Jose Mourinho didn’t appear to be his biggest fan.
Mourinho has worked hard with Ndombele in terms of his fitness and application, and Spurs are now reaping the rewards with his superb performances this term.
At just 24, Ndombele should have his best years ahead of him, but just how many of those years will be with Tottenham remains to be seen.
RMC Sport now carry quotes from Paris Saint-Germain ace Kylian Mbappe, in which he suggests that he wants to play with Ndombele again soon having been French international teammates.

Ndombele responded by saying ‘why not’ to a move to PSG and a reunion with Mauricio Pochettino, and whilst it’s going well with Spurs, Ndombele can’t rule out joining PSG one day having discussed it many times already.
“I hope to play again as quickly as possible with you,” said Mbappe.
“I’m a boy from the Paris region. Wear the Paris jersey one day, why not. We have talked about it many times. It did not happen and today it is going well at Tottenham. We will see, why not later,” Ndombele responded.
