Tottenham Hotspur have offered Tanguy Ndombele to Lyon to bring Houssem Aouar to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal also keen, according to ESPN.

What’s the story?

Both Tottenham and Arsenal are reportedly interested in Aouar.

Le10Sport reported earlier this month that Arsenal have had an initial bid turned down by Lyon.

ESPN are now reporting that Tottenham have made contact with Lyon to sign the 23-year-old France international midfielder.

Spurs are willing to send France international midfielder Ndombele to Lyon to bring Aouar to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Lyon have yet to respond.

Arsenal or Tottenham to win Aouar race?

Le10Sport reported that Arsenal are not willing to pay the €25 million (£21.42m) transfer fee that Lyon want for Aouar.

That does not sound a lot for a player who is only 23 and will get better.

Spurs signed Ndombele from Lyon in the summer of 2019 for €60 million (£51.41m), as reported by ESPN.

Ndombele could just replace Aouar in the Lyon team, and the French club would have made a profit overall.

This is an offer that could be very tempting to Lyon.

What is baffling is why Spurs are willing to make such a big loss on Ndombele.
