Tim Sherwood has praised Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele on Premier League Productions for his goal against Newcastle United.
What’s the story?
Ndombele scored for Tottenham in their 3-2 win against Newcastle at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
The 24-year-old France international midfielder found the back of the net in the 17h minute.
The former Lyon star fired in a right-footed drive.
It was a brilliant goal.
Tim Sherwood’s verdict
Former Tottenham manager Sherwood was following the match for Premier League Productions.
The Englishman was impressed by Ndombele’s goal, describing the midfielder as “a maverick” and saying that he will punish teams in those situations.
Sherwood said on Premier League Productions: “The first Spurs goal is well worked.
“The ball goes out to Reguilon on the left, and you just can’t leave Ndombele in that kind of space. He is a maverick, and he will punish you in those situations.”

Could Tanguy Ndombele now step up?
Ndombele played well for Tottenham against Newcastle.
David Ginola said on Sky Sports Premier League that the 24-year-old was the best player on the pitch.
Now, we have been here before with Ndombele.
The 24-year-old does well for a spell and then goes missing.
Consistency is a big problem for the Frenchman.
In our view, if Tottenham head coach Nuno uses Ndombele in an advanced midfield role, then there is a chance that he could fully explode.
