Aston Villa are said to be leading the race to sign the England international striker, with Steve Bruce keen to bring the youngster in.

Tammy Abraham’s addition at Aston Villa could put them right back into the hunt to earn automatic promotion this season.

The Daily Mirror suggest that Villa are leading the race for the Chelsea forward, and his arrival would be a stunning piece of business for Steve Bruce’s side.

Villa’s early financial struggles this summer have rather decreased the optimism around Villa Park this summer.

Bruce’s side are no longer one of the favourites to go up, after losing John Terry and seemingly being set to sell Jack Grealish.

But the arrival of Abraham would surely change the outlook on Villa’s chances this season.

Abraham ripped Championship defences apart during his last spell in the division, when he hit 23 goals in 41 appearances as a teenager.

Abraham is now 20, and has a year’s experience of playing regular Premier League football under his belt, which should make him an even better prospect.

And a move to Villa could give Bruce one of the Championship’s most dangerous attackers.

Villa still have the core of a strong squad, and the arrival of Abraham would give them the star-turn they need to elevate themselves from promotion outsiders to being right among the favourites again.
