Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has told The Telegraph that he wants to be their first-choice striker next season, rather than return to Aston Villa.

Abraham, 21, made a shock move on loan to Villa last summer as Steve Bruce pounced to take him to Villa park after no Premier League move materialised.

The striker enjoyed a stunning season, scoring 26 goals in 40 appearances to fire Villa back to the Premier League with promotion through the playoffs.

Abraham now returns to Chelsea, and his chances of finally starting for the Blues have been adied by their transfer ban.

Chelsea have sent Gonzalo Higuain back to Juventus, and with the club unable to sign a new striker, Abraham may now be favourite to start.

Despite signing Brazilian striker Wesley, the Daily Mail claimed that Villa were still hoping to bring Abraham back to the club towards the end of the transfer window.

Abraham has now seemingly killed off any hopes of a return, suggesting he has ‘been there, done that’ in terms of a loan move away to prove himself, and now thinks it’s time to feature for Chelsea, believing he can do it.

“I feel I needed that little push, some people might call more experience,” said Abraham. “I played [last season] under the pressure of people asking if I could come back and score goals again and help them get back into the Premier League. Well I have been there, done that and now I have full confidence in my ability to score for Chelsea in the Premier League,” he added.
