Olivier Giroud has lost his place in the Chelsea side to Tammy Abraham this season.
Giroud has been linked with a move away from Chelsea in January in the Telegraph, with his future now very uncertain.
The French forward has slipped down the pecking order this campaign, with Abraham becoming Chelsea’s first choice striker.
But, even though Abraham is now ahead of Giroud, the youngster has still spotted how seriously Giroud trains and he admires the way the the World Cup winning Frenchman’s finishing prowess.
“I just take those little things that I see in training,” Abraham said.
“If the ball is coming into the box off the ground, his volleying and everything is on point, so you have to take those little things and add them to your game. I’m a visual learner. I like to watch and take people’s ideas.”
If Giroud does leave Chelsea in January it could be a blow to Lampard’s side, even if he hasn’t played much this term.
Giroud remains a wonderful back-up striker, and his departure would leave Chelsea relatively short up-top, with Michy Batshuayi the only other recognised senior striker available to Lampard.
Abraham will hope to keep Giroud out of the team for a while longer though, as he aims to keep up his blistering start to the campaign.
Abraham didn’t score for Chelsea at the weekend, but does have eight goals in his first nine Premier League appearances this season.
