Former Hibernian forward Tam McManus has suggested on PLZ Soccer that Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester United could make a move for Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn next summer.

McManus believes that if McGinn does well for Villa in the Premier League this season, then he will get offers from Spurs or United next summer.

The 38-year-old former forward, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, has also suggested that the 24-year-old Scotland international – who started his professional club football career at St. Mirren before starring for Hibernian from 2015 until 2018 – could fetch Villa £30-£40 million as transfer fees.

McManus said about McGinn on PLZ Soccer: “I think if he does well at Aston Villa this season, I think you would be looking at Man United or Spurs, somebody like that, coming for him, you are talking £30, £40 million.”

Promising talent

McGinn was superb for Villa in the Championship in England last season and played a key role in Dean Smith’s side clinching promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs.

The midfielder did well for the Villans in their opening Premier League game of the season against Tottenham at the weekend.

If McGinn does well in the Premier League this season and is consistent, then, as McManus suggests, he could get some major offers next summer.
