The Celtic left-back is linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.

Tam McManus has claimed on Twitter that Kieran Tierney’s departure from Celtic’s training base in Austria is in no way linked to a potential move to Arsenal.

The Gunners have already seen two bids rejected by Celtic for the 22-year-old defender, the latest of which was £17.5 million [The Sun].

Hoops boss Neil Lennon confirmed on Saturday that Tierney had returned to Scotland to ‘finish off his rehab’ after struggling with a hip problem for much of last season.

But his surprise and sudden return to Glasgow has prompted suggestions from Celtic fans that the two could be linked, but BBC pundit McManus has confidently stated that the left-back has ‘NOT’ gone back to the UK to complete a deal to Arsenal.

The timing is slightly suspect and, as one Hoops fan pointed out in response to McManus, do they not have gyms in Austria? Is it vitally important that he continues his rehab in Scotland?

Perhaps the facilities at Lennoxtown are a lot more advanced than anything available to Lennon’s side on their pre-season training camp. It could all be a mere coincidence, but coincidences during the summer transfer window often indicate something else.

Or, like McManus claims, he could just be flying back to Scotland for honest, fitness reasons.
