Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers and Celtic have reportedly scouted the red-hot striker this season.
Reported Rangers and Celtic target Lawrence Shankland has been called into the Scotland squad.
The 24-year-old marksman has scored 15 goals across all competitions for the Championship side so far this season.
According to The Record, both Celtic and Rangers have scouted him following his goal-laden start to the season.
It could be seen as a bit of a gamble by Scotland boss Steve Clarke, given that Shankland is only proven to be prolific in the second tier of Scottish football as things stand.
But Tam McManus has backed the decision on Twitter, insisting that ‘the goals don’t move’.
The Scots are 12 points behind Group I leaders Belgium in Euro 2020 qualifying, and nine behind second-placed Russia.
Getting to the competition next summer is a massive ask and blooding Shankland, getting him ready for this level, might pay dividends when it comes to World Cup qualifying.
Plus, if he plays against Russia in Luzhniki on Thursday week, and impresses, then Celtic and Rangers will surely ramp up interest.
