Have Celtic left it too late to sign John McGinn this summer?
It looks like it might be time for Celtic to get serious about signing John McGinn.
The 24-year-old impressed yet again for Hibernian on Thursday as Neil Lennon’s side came from two goals down to beat Asteras Tripolis 3-2 in Europa League qualifying.
McGinn has been the subject of three failed bids by Celtic, with their latest offer of £2 million still shy of the Easter Road club’s £4 million valuation [The Scotsman].
But it might be time for Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers to buck up his ideas – and fast.
Numerous Championship clubs from English football have been linked with signing McGinn, and Hibernian legend Tam McManus has claimed on Twitter that scouts from down south were “raving” about his performance last night.
Providing McManus’s claim is accurate, what’s to stop the English club in question from blowing Rodgers out of the water by matching Hibs’ valuation of him?
In addition to that, why would the midfielder himself join Celtic over that potential club if they patently rate him highly enough to pay the going rate instead of bartering?
McGinn’s performance yesterday should be a watershed moment and it’s time for Rodgers to wise up.
