Reading boss Jaap Stam has been tipped as a possible contender to replace Ronald Koeman at Everton by Talksport pundit and former Sunderland left-back Michael Gray.
Stam, remembered predominantly for his time as a player at Manchester United, returned to English football as manager of the Royals last summer.
The Berkshire side finished the previous campaign 17th in the Championship and a minimal summer outlay hinted another eight months of mediocrity was in store.
But Stam, who had never before managed at senior level, has turned them into promotion contenders this season, with third place the prize for a victory at Huddersfield Town on Tuesday.
Koeman, meanwhile, has been discussed as a potential replacement for Luis Enrique at former club Barcelona and Stam, whose contract expires at the end of the campaign, could fill the boots of his fellow Dutchman.
Gray told Talksport on Tuesday morning: “If managers leave the club that they’re at to go somewhere else, I think there’s talk about Koeman going to Barcelona.

“I don’t know if that’s going to happen or not, but I’m sure his (Stam’s) name will come up on a list to maybe take over at somebody like Everton.”
Koeman, who won four La Liga titles and a European Cup in his six years as a Barcelona player, was the Netherlands’ assistant manager during Stam’s early international career.
