Tony Cascarino raved about Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka on talkSPORT (8:28am, September 13, 2020).

The former Chelsea striker was impressed with the display produced by Xhaka during Arsenal’s 3-0 win against Fulham away from home at Craven Cottage in London on Saturday afternoon.

Cascarino believes that the 27-year-old Switzerland international midfielder has improved the most.

Cascarino said about Xhaka on talkSPORT (8:28am, September 13, 2020): “I can’t think of a more improved player. If you think where he was at the football club for Arsenal and everybody wanted him out, and yet it seemed under Arteta he has found his feet again and played really well.”

Solid performance against Fulham

Arsenal were brilliant against Fulham, and Xhaka played his part in midfield, with the Swiss playing his role in the opening goal, spread the passes nicely, and drove the team forward.

According to WhoScored, the midfielder took four shots of which none was on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 93.2%, took 70 touches, made two tackles and one interception, and put in one cross.

Previous controversy

Xhaka was involved in a huge controversy in October 2019. As reported by Sky Sports, the Switzerland international gestured towards the Arsenal fans and swore at them after he was jeered as he was being substituted against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Unai Emery was in charge of the North London club at the time, and Xhaka was stripped off the captaincy after the controversy.

Sky Sports reported in December 2019 that the midfielder was close to moving to Hertha Berlin in Germany, but it did not materialise in the end.

Since then, under Arteta, the Swiss has re-established himself as an important player in the Arsenal team.
