The former Arsenal midfielder – who now works as a pundit for talkSPORT – believes that Lacazette is an “asset” the Gunners can cash in on, as they have Eddie Nketiah as a replacement striker in the squad.
Parlour told talkSPORT: “Lacazette will be the one, the asset. You look at the assets they’ve got, there isn’t many really. They’ve got Aubameyang, but with him you’re not going to get as much as you’d like because, currently, he’s only got a year left on his contract.
“Probably the asset will be Lacazette. I know Juventus were interested in maybe buying him. Sometimes you have to lose a player to bring players in. You do need to freshen up the dressing room.
“I like Lacazette, he’s a decent player, but we have Eddie Nketiah and it’s all about whether he can step up now and improve as a centre-forward.”
Leaving Arsenal
Lacazette has been on the books of Arsenal since 2017, and the France international striker has done well.
The 29-year-old scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 22 Premier League starts for the Gunners last season, and scored 13 goals and provided eight assists in 27 league starts in 2018-19, according to WhoScored.
Back in 2017-18, the Frenchman scored 14 goals and provided four assists in 26 league games for the North London outfit, according to WhoScored.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the number one striker and Arsenal head coach Mike Arteta not always playing two upfront, the Gunners could see Lacazette as a player who they could cash in on to bring in some money, especially as Nketiah is such a promising young player.
According to WhoScored, Nketiah scored two goals in seven Premier League starts and scored two goals in four FA Cup appearances for the Gunners last season.
