Chelsea have been poor all season, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side did not have the best of times against Brentford in the London derby on Saturday afternoon.

Brentford are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, but the Bees still managed to play out a 2-2 draw with Chelsea at home in the Premier League on Saturday.

Although Chelsea took the lead through a headed effort from Nicolas Jackson in the 35th minute, the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners were 2-1 down on 69 minutes.

It was only in the 83rd minute when Axel Disasi scored the equaliser for the Blues. He rose to head in Cole Palmer’s cross.

Chelsea fans at the game were not happy with head coach Mauricio Pochettino and with the players, and one supporter was not pleased with a player who did not even play.

Discussion on talkSPORT about Chelsea right-back Reece James

Reece James is on the sidelines at the moment. The 24-year-old England international right-back is still suffering a hamstring injury that he picked up in August last year.

The £250,000-a-week (Spotrac) right-back did not play against Brentford, but that did not stop a Chelsea fan from calling talkSPORT and urging the Blues to sell him in the summer transfer window because of his injury issues.

As you can see below, former Tottenham Hotspur player and talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara could not believe it, while ex-Liverpool striker Dean Saunders thinks that James is the only Chelsea player who would get into everyone else’s team.

O’Hara said about James on talkSPORT (7pm, March 2, 2024): “Cash in on him? He is your best player. When he is fit, he is your best player. Get behind him, and hopefully he will get fit.”

Saunders said: “I think he is the only player that would get in everybody else’s team.”

O’Hara noted: “Yeah, he is. I agree with that. I agree with that.”

My View: Have faith in Reece James

I do not agree that Chelsea right-back Reece James would get into every team. Liverpool have Trent Alexander-Arnold, while Kyle Walker is still a force to be reckoned with at Manchester City.

But, I do not think that Chelsea should sell James, who has been linked with Manchester City. He is 24 now and can get better.

I would urge Chelsea fans to have faith in James and support him in his recovery to become fully fit.
