Speaking to Sky Sports, Aleksandar Mitrovic has named Virgil van Dijk as the hardest opponent he has ever had to face off against.
The Serbian striker has played against some of the best defenders in Premier League history during his eight-year spell in England, but he’s picked Van Dijk, alongside John Terry as the toughest player he’s ever played against.
Van Dijk is, of course, one of the best defenders in the history of this division, and Mitrovic says that he struggles to even deal with the presence of the Dutchman when he plays against him.

Van Dijk Mitrovic’s toughest opponent
The Serbian spoke about the Liverpool defender
“Who is the hardest opponent you’ve ever faced in your career?” Mitrovic was asked.
“I played against a lot of good defenders, but if I had to pick one it would probably be John Terry or Van Dijk. Ok they played for top teams, but they make it hard for you to even get the ball and to get in position to get the ball. They talk a lot, they’re tough. You feel them there, sometimes it’s not nice to play against them,” Mitrovic answered.
Gave him the run around
It is interesting to hear that Mitrovic regards Van Dijk as one of his toughest opponents, because he caused him plenty of problems this season.
Indeed, Mitrovic grabbed two goals and won a penalty courtesy of a Van Dijk foul against Liverpool earlier this season.
The fact that the Fulham star can do that against a player like Van Dijk is a testament to how good the former Newcastle United man has been this season.
Mitrovic is in the form of his life right now.
