Sam Allardyce has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy should have appointed him, not Cristian Stellini or Ryan Mason, when Antonio Conte left.
The former Everton manager has said on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast that Tottenham did not give him a ring when they parted company with Conte.
Cristian Stellini was appointed the Acting Head Coach when Conte and Tottenham parted ways.
Then following the hammering of Newcastle United in the Premier League, Levy decided to get rid of Stellini.
Mason was brought in as interim manager of the Tottenham first team for the rest of the season.
And Allardyce has suggested that Spurs should have asked him to help them out.
Sam Allardyce on Tottenham Hotspur
Allardyce said, as transcribed by TBR: “You talk about Ryan Mason who is inexperienced, the assistant manager had never managed either. I can see why they did it because results were good when Antonio was off ill. Now it’s down the tubes and they never rang me either before you ask me, it’s unbelievable.”

HITC Verdict: It was never going to happen
In our view, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is/was never going to appoint Sam Allardyce as the manager even on a short-term basis.
No way.
Now, of course, we know how good and experienced Allardyce is, and he was in a managerial role as recently as 2021 when he was the West Bromwich Albion boss.
However, ‘Big Sam’ really does not have the reputation of managing big and ambitious clubs.
He is somewhat of a firefighter.
So, with Tottenham still in the running for a top-four finish in the Premier League table this season, it was always unlikely that Levy would give Allardyce a call.
