Tony Cascarino pointed out on talkSPORT (6:20am, February 20, 2021) that Leeds United have had injury problems at the back just like Liverpool.
The former Chelsea striker, who now works as a pundit for talkSPORT, praised Leeds for getting on with it despite having Robin Koch and Diego Llorente unavailable for large parts of the season.
Centre-backs Koch and Llorente joined Leeds in the summer of 2020, and both have had injury problems.
While the German last played in December 2020, the Spain international has played just 91 minutes in the Premier League all season.
Liverpool have been hit hard by injuries as well, with defenders Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip long-term absentees.
Midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have been playing in defence, and now even they are on the sidelines.
Cascarino said on talkSPORT (6:20am, February 20, 2021): “This is important. A lot of Leeds fans will think this as well. We talk about Liverpool and centre-halves injured, they have had two centre-halves injured nearly all season. Koch and Llorente, two of them, they have two centre-halves who have not played for them for a long time.”
Admirable from Leeds United
Leeds have been widely praised, and rightly so. The Whites have been superb so far this season and have been very entertaining.
It is quite astonishing how well the West Yorkshire club are doing at the moment, the way they are playing and entertaining everyone who watch them.
Praise for Adama Traore
Meanwhile, Cascarino gave his take on reported Leeds United target Adama Traore.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers winger’s thunderous shot came back off the Leeds crossbar, hit Illan Meslier and went in, as Leeds lost 1-0 in the Premier League game last Friday evening.
According to a report in Eurosport this month, Leeds are keen on signing the 25-year-old and are likely to make a bid for him in the summer of 2021,
Cascarino said about Traore on talkSPORT (6:20am, February 20, 2021): “We have seen him do amazing things.
“When he gets in that scenario he is one-on-one with somebody and he has got half a yard and he is running with pace, he can hit things. He doesn’t really seem to get tap-ins or simple types of goals. Everything is just really dramatic, power.”
