Lee Hendrie labelled Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris a ‘hero’ after he helped France win the UEFA Nations League against Spain on Sunday, as he told Sky Sports Football.
The Tottenham shot-stopper pulled off a number of outstanding saves during his side’s 2-1 win, especially during the last ten or so minutes of the action-packed showdown.
It was a real captains performance from Lloris, who has now added a UEFA Nations League medal to his World Cup medal.
This is the second time the newly-formed UEFA Nations League has taken place, with Portugal winning the inaugural one.
Nonetheless, ex-Premier League midfielder Hendrie was left wowed by what he was seeing from Lloris yesterday, especially during the dying moments of the game.
“You talk about heroes in games,” said Hendrie. “This is an excellent save from Lloris. I think because it zips off the surface, it’s always a tricky one for the keeper. Lloris does so well.
“It’s brilliant from Lloris again. He definitely will be one of the heroes if it stays this way.
“We can’t hide away from how well Hugo Lloris played. Some of the saves he made, in really key moments in the game.”

Spurs fans will be hoping that Lloris can bring back some of that trophy-winning magic to North London.
During the club’s rise under Mauricio Pochettino, it’s one thing that continued to evade the club.
Those players that thrived under Pochettino are slowly but surely leaving and only very few remain.
In truth, if Spurs can’t progress under Nuno Espirito Santo this season then it wouldn’t be a surprise if Lloris joins the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Kieran Trippier, Moussa Dembele, Danny Rose and Erik Lamela out of the exit door.
